38.  Using your tissue pattern pieces, cut out front, back, arms and neck pieces.  Remember your note to add a seam allowance an inch and a half to the bottom of the front and back pieces.  This is to make a drawstring closure around the bottom.

39.  Mark darts on the back of pattern.

40. Fold on center line, sew on curved line.

41.  Check fit.

42. Trim away excess fabric in pleats and darts.

43.  Sew up just half way the back or leave a side seam partially open so you can fit the cover over the form later

44. Attach front to back at shoulders.  Right side together.

45. Check fit. Sew up side seams.

46.  Fit arm and neck holes.  Use your pins or it won't fit.  

47.  Fit on to the form.  This is where it was a good idea to leave a back or side seam open. close open seams with a ladder stitch.

48. Use running stitch and set in a drawstring.  You could do a casing if you wanted but I'm working against time and growth here with a child size form. lol.

49. Done!!

These sorter thingies from Ikea are the bomb. Very affordable and perfect for unruly spools of thread.

Speaking of unruly. One of the cats found my bobbins and left me bobbins scattered all over the floor this morning.

This is the packaging and cutting and general hanging out station. More ikea goodness hanging on the wall there. It's the space between the two dormers.

Here's one of the dormers. NO idea what to do with them. Maybe just leave them undisturbed but I'm open to suggestions.

These are my 2 favorite squares right now.

Finally, my wool felting space. I know. I know. All that glorious table top area and she's still pulling up a piece of floor? Well, sitting on the floor really is the most comfortable wool working way for me. I think there's already an impression being worn in the carpet. lol.

Before I go, two disasters. One solved, the other needs sorting. This is a quilt I started before the move. As you can see, I've clearly lost my place on the project.

The other is this. I have never found an effective floss organizing system. So it all ends up piled up, then I pull out what I need.  See what happens when you do that?  when this happens, I throw the whole thing away and start over.

I *did* consider machine sewing it down to a piece of muslin and hanging it on the wall but thought you'd all think I'd lost it for sure. lol. Maybe next time.

1 former cub scout, an old girl scout and 450 yards of twine...

Last week, while I waited for the paint to dry in the attic, I threw my boys in the truck and headed to ikea.  As you can see, in my haste, I clearly took the wrong truck for the task. 

I couldn't believe the boxes didn't fit. 

Somehow, in between Forrest rolling his eyes and Dane playing roller derby with the carts,  we managed to jam the 7 boxes into my truck.  I'm still not really sure how we did it but I'm so grateful they offered free twine. As my truck lowered, our laughter increased.  Other patrons were good natured and tried not to point with their own laughter. 

The next day, I disgarded the directions that said "2 people required for assembly" and got busy.  By late afternoon I was frustrated again.  That last piece just wouldn't go together. Brian arrived just in time....right after I broke a sweat and just before tears would have surely appeared...and put on the top of the shelves. disaster averted.  whew

On the 3rd day, I moved in.  The white banquet tables will eventually be replaced.  But for now, they're fill ins for practice.  We both want to see how the open tables work for us.  Brian may want a traditional desk and I think I want the 5 foot square dining table.  We'll see.

I also set up a combo printing, shipping and cutting station that I forgot to photograph.  I particularly love that spot so I'll be posting some more photos very soon.

new digs...

Brian and I have decided to convert the attic into a work space for the both of us.  He's had a basement (dreary) office and I've shared space with the family room.  Which means that he never uses his office and I'm crowded out of mine...or at least I have to pick up the children's projects to get to mine.

I admit that my stuff dominates the family room, still the work area is generally over run with projects from someone else. 

I don't know why we didn't think about sharing space before.  Maybe it's because we have different work styles.  Brian's neat and tidy.  I like order and organization BUT I tend to leave behind a total disaster while in the throws of a crafting frenzy. I've consciously decided to be more orderly, I think it does make one more productive. Besides, I'd hate to go up there some day and have the room taped off with his side and my side.  Ha. 

Anyway, we've managed to successfully live together for 15 years, we certainly should be able to work together. Or at least work in the same room.  I promised to share my new coffee pot, he promised to leave behind the flat screen....for now. lol.
