Recording this before I forget what I did, because this tasted pretty good.
Ingredients;
Soak overnight;
1/2 bag of dried pinto beans
1/2 bag of dried calico beans (mixed beans)
In large dutch roaster, add the softened beans and enough water to cover plus 1 inch.
add ham bone
Add another 2 cups (or more) of chopped up ham
chopped celery
chopped fresh tomato (no seeds)
mix in two lofty tablespoons of lanesboro mustard
Heavy sprinkling of cumin
Bring to a boil, remove from burner, cover, place in a 225 degree oven and then go take an amazingly long nap. Wake up a little bit embarassed that you slept so long and delightfully pleased that your children worked and played quietly together.
This is the world's greatest mustard. No really, you think I'm not just saying that because I paid a pretty good chunk of money for it. It's true! Best mustard evah. Even better on a locally sourced patty melt, but it works in ham soup too.
I call it lanesboro mustard because Brian and I bought it while visiting Lanesboro Minnesota. If you click the photo, you'll find the addy to get your own.
I hate to gush, but I just may give a bottle of this to everyone for christms next year...it's that good.
One more yum.
YUM!
